Hi, my name is Omar Alvarez (Guadalupe Silva Alvarez - Marina Alaniz Alvarez) born and raised in Alvarez Country (Kingsville, Texas).

Mine, is not a story of athletics, military accomplishments, or any other memorable events. Just one of the daily lives we Alvarez's live...

I have been in the retail Industry for the last 40 years, Grocery-Drug Stores. I was an owner of a Drug chain in the Norfolk - Virginia Beach area in the early 70's. Giant Open - Air Markets, for those of you who might have been attached with the Military at that time and stationed in Norfolk.

I now reside in San Diego, California, (Yes another Navy Town) I worked for the Marine Corp Exchange 10 years and so many of our boys come to Boot Camp not knowing what to expect, and 12 weeks later they are Marines and Men all at the same time…the Proud Families at the graduation ceremonies were there to acknowledge their sons induction into " the Few and the Proud " If any of you have attended one of these ceremonies you know the feelings you felt at that time are just indescribable…

After 15 years here I am now moving again, this time to Idaho, where I can try to visit the Northern States of this Great Country we live in. I will be retiring next year and hope to use Idaho as my Home base as I travel the Big Northwest...

As I said, nothing of note, just one man's life, with no Major accomplishments, but a Love for History, and the Alvarez name.

Not to leave the Alaniz Family out, my Grandfather Manuel Alaniz was a “Kenedyeno” from the “La Parra Ranch” near Sarita, Texas. So to my many King Ranch Family members let us remember that there is much more History involved other than The King Ranch…. (my Mother taught School there ) But that is another Story
