Greetings Fellow Angel of Goliad Descendants:

May our prayers and blessings be upon all those Angel of Goliad Descendants who have returned to schools and colleges.  May their education and knowledge lead them in the qualities of courage, charity, and kindness that the Angel possessed.  Good luck this school year.

The Laying of the Wreath ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2010 in Goliad, Texas following the Fannin Memorial Service.  The unveiling of the Angel of Goliad Marker will follow our Laying of the Wreath at the Angel’s Statue.  The keynote speaker will be Dr. Lauro Cavazos.  Dr. Cavazos and his wife donated the Angel of Goliad Marker.  Our Angel is now up on a pedestal with bricks and pavers around her. Benches have also been installed around the plaza.

Again, if anyone is interested in purchasing a brick, paver or bench with the names of loved ones, please contact our President Gilbert Alvarez.  Please make plans to attend the Angel of Goliad Reunion in Kingsville, Texas on July 17,  2010 at the Henrietta King Memorial Center in Kingsville, Texas.  Further details will be given at a later date.
Our Angel’s Website is coming along great.  Again, we invite your input and current events or information.  Please contact our webmasters Gil or Orlando Alvarez.

Our Angel of Goliad Little Descendants continues to grow:

1. Destiny Faith Salas, daughter of Michael Salas, grandson of Viola Alvarez Pineda
2. Sofía Violet Lopez, daughter of Patrick and Shannon Lopez, granddaughter of Norma and Pete Lopez
3. Avery Grace Golightly, daughter of Angela and William Golightly, granddaughter of Norma and Pete Lopez

On a sadder note, Joe Hernandez Sr. from CA, spouse of Amanda Alvarez Hernandez passed away August 13,  2009.  Roy Lopez, spouse of Sylvia Alvarez Lopez passed away.  An uncle of Juan Alvarez passed away also.  Elio Ramirez Sr. passed away on September 22,  2009, husband of Berta Alvarez Ramirez, daughter of Rodolfo Alvarez.
If you have pictures of an Angel’s Descendant serving in the Armed Forces, please send them to our webmaster.  Their addresses would also be appreciated.  May God Bless Our Troops, Our Country and all of our families.
